Jeff & Kim Halstead
Jeff & Kim Halstead are pictured here with their 2 sons, Jack and Jordan, and their dog, Sierra. Jeff is the 24th Chief of Police for the Fort Worth Police Department and took office in December of 2008 after a 20-year career with the Phoenix Police Department. Kim is a native Texan, the youngest of 4 siblings (only daughter) and is happy to be back in the Lone Star State where her family eagerly waited for her return. Jeff leads the most successful police department as it relates to “Community Based Policing” and has learned what makes Fort Worth special…, Community, Family, and Safety. Although he is new to Fort Worth, he is no stranger to challenges. When he was 19 years old and a college student in south Florida studying law enforcement, he was beat up and injured by a police officer, witnessed by his best friend. This changed his career path immediately. In 1986, he met Kim on a blind date in Houston. That same night he called his parents and told them, “I met the girl I want to marry.” After getting married in 1987, they moved to Phoenix to start a new chapter together. The desire to serve the community and start a family motivated Jeff to apply for various police departments in the Phoenix area. Jeff and Kim started their family and grew to love the Phoenix area but something was missing. Being alone in the desert can prove to be very tough and once the city of Fort Worth announced they were looking for a new Chief, Jeff decided to apply. At the same time, Kim built a successful interior design business and weathered the declining home building market in 2006-2008. Kim still loves to assist friends and families with her artistic talents and is considering how to use these talents in this wonderful city. Their son Jack is a junior at the University of Arizona and plans to attend law school in Texas. Jordan just graduated from Brewer High School and will be attending the University of Texas at Arlington in the fall. The Halstead family lives everyday with a “family first” attitude and is proud to call Fort Worth their new home!
